WV Supporters of Residential Solar Energy, Please Call the Governor and Urge Him to Veto HB 2201

Dear WV Supporters of Residential Solar Energy,

I am writing ask that you contact Governor Tomblin and urge him to veto HB 2201. This Bill was speedily passed by the WV House and Senate and is currently sitting on the Governor’s desk. It will become law at midnight tonight (Tuesday 2/24) unless he vetoes it.

The Bill (read it here) has had language inserted into it due to the efforts of energy company lobbyists. This language calls for the prohibiting of so-called “cross-subsidization”, which really amounts to allowing the energy companies to charge residential customers with net meters additional fees (tariffs) for the privilege of producing green energy. These fees, if implemented, may be exorbitant and would have the effect of killing residential solar in West Virginia. Even more troubling, these fees would retroactively punish residents, businesses, churches, and community organizations that have invested their own capital to install solar panels in an attempt to make West Virginia and the world a better place. Please call the Governor’s office at (304) 558-2000 before the end of the day to urge him to veto HB 2201
